I'm having trouble opening attachments from a mailing list.
The file is at the end of the message. When I click on it, I get a "mail couldn't find app to open" message, then I can choose TextEdit to open and read. The trouble is, I have to do this for every message.
If I save to Desktop, I can open it no problem, with TextEdit by dbl clicking it.
In the Get Info box, the app to open drop down menu shows "not applicable". If I try to "change all" to TextEdit, I get "not enough info, update?" error dialogue, but at the end of that, I still have no app to open the file directly from the email.
Clear as mud? What's going on? Why can't I just dbl click on the attachment in Mail and open the file? What obvious thing am I missing here??
Any help would be much appreciated!!

Are you get infoing the message on the desktop or in mail?
Do the get info thing on the desktop and change your prefs there if you're not.
