MacMail won't download since upgrading to 10.3.4

I recently upgraded from 10.1.5 to 10.3.4. I am now finding that one of my email accounts sends mail adequately but will no longer download incoming mail from the server. The other account (this one) sends and receives with no apparent problem.There is no log-jam or corrupted files on the server. My ISP is Comcast and they don't support MacMail. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Check your configuration. Make sure it matches exactly. Also try recreating that account in Mail. When you say "The other account (this one)" what are you referring to?

Thanks for responding. I checked the configuration of the malfunctioning account against the account that works properly and there were no errors. Then, I recreated the problem account anyway. I also accessed the mail server at Comcast and examined the incoming mail files that had piled up. None of them seemed problematic but I deleted them anyway after reading them. Then I sent myself another brief test email from my yahoo account. Like the others, it made it to the Comcast mail server but would not -alas- download to my machine.
