I'm running OS X 10.2. I recently tried to open some jpg files, and it won't let me. Then I tried to open some other jpg's unrelated to the other batch, still no luck. Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? I've opened them in the past. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

A little more information might make it easier for us to help you. How are you trying to open them and are you getting an error message or what is happening. While these should open in preview have you tried to open them in a browser window?

If I click on the file, from my desktop, preview opens and I suppose tries to open it but nothing happens. I also tried to open/import them into iphoto and it said unreadable files.

Try repairing permissions using Disk Utility (located in the Applications>>Utilities folder).
Do you have another jpg viewer, such as Photoshop Elements (or the full version)?

Have you tried to copy these photos from one drive to another? The reason I ask is that I just discovered that I corrupted a bunch of jpg and tif and gif files just by dragging them to a second drive while I did a reinstall of the main drive. The only thing that would open them was photoshop.

.... or GraphicConverterX v5.x from Lemske Software - if Photoshop can open it, that can, too.
