When I open up the terminal, I get the VCD gear software to open up in the terminal window. I can no longer get a blank terminal window like I did when to OS was new even if I choose "New Shell". How do I fix this so it doesn't auto launch VCDGear v1.6e build when I open my terminal?

Thanks!
Patrick

Go to the terminal preferences and select the "Execute the default login shell..." option.

If that doesn't do it for you, it may be that some command has been added to your profile.
Edit the file /etc/profile to see if a command in there is launching VCD.

where is the etc/profile file? The first option didn't work. This is making me angry, VCDGear sucks!

/etc/profile is at the root level but I think you can't see it from the finder.

you need to use the terminal to find it or you can use textedit , File-Open, and enter /etc/profile in the Goto field. (However TextEdit will not let you modify it)
