I've searched on this and am getting very confused. Most posts say "print server" but they are really just trying to print to a shared printer connected to a windows PC. But there is no PC connected to my printer. The printer is connected to a Linksys print server.
Let me give more details and maybe someone can help me out.
I have a Linksys PPSX1 Print server which is set up for TCP/IP printing on my network (the PC's on the network are running Windows XP). The print server get's an IP address from my router (through DHCP).
So what do I need to do to get my new Powerbook which does connect to the router as well (also getting an IP through DHCP) to be able to print to the HP 6MP printer. In Windows there is a way to set up printing to a print server. I'm guessing there is the same thing in Panther but just can't figure it out. I haven't had a Mac in about 10 years and a few things are just throwing me for a loop.
Thanks,
Steve

Print Servers should be set up with manual IP addresses...
Try using IP/LPR, then enter the IP address of the server, then uncheck the Use Default queue and enter the queue name that applies to your server - probably L1, but might be lp1, lpt, raw1 or some other.
If the printer is a postscript one, choose HP laserjet 6 model, but if it isn't, choose the HP Laserjet 6 Series driver.
If this doesn't work, you could try Appletalk or HP Appsocket/jetdirect comm modes.
