I see different Finder icons made by dedicated Mac users. But how does one change it?

You first need to download CandyBar 1.01, an app that changes all of your system icons for you. All you have to do is drag and drop the custom icons you want into it.

Get it at blank>www.panic.com

You next need icons, which you can download from xicons.com . By far, the best set of icons for OS X in my opinion is produced by the guy at blank>www.rad-e8.com . Look for Snow.E and Snow.E 2.

Finally, you can change your desktop pic easily from Sys Prefs > Desktop. Resources for desktops include blank>www.resexcellence.com , blank>www.macdesktops.com , macmotiva.rocks.it , and yes, www.rad-e8.com .

One more, thing:

CrecenS is definitely correct about the articles at xicons, but if you're new to the UNIX terminal in OS X or just new to Macs in general, I don't recommend you go off and mess with your system resources.

It would be much safer--and easier--to just use Candybar and let it manage the dirty work for you.

CrecenS's heart is definitely in the right place, though... no offense intended.

:-)
