Ok, all of you overclockers out there... I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to overclock a yosemite G3's bus to 133mhz... but I'm not finding any sites that list jumper settings past 120mhz. unfortunatly, this has the side efffect of taking the PCI bus down to 30mhz... which I'm sure would create issues with pci cards.
http://www.macinfo.d...ning-g3yos.html
soooo.. with the 4x ratio between the ystem bus and PCI bus... 133mhz should keep the PCI bus at 33.3mhz. Does anyone know if this is possible? or is it just a stupid idea?
Cheers.
Oh yeah, do you think there'd be any issues with ZIF upgrade cards?

Been there, tried that /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
It doesn't work /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
maybe possible, but definitely not recommended, as variances in the pci and memory timing cycles results in an unstable machine. The yose mobo was never intended to run at that speed and yes, there are many of the same issues with zif upgrades, as they are intended to run on a 100mhz bus. Trying to run them at 133 will introduce way too many errors for the machine to even be usable.

IF the pci bus runs at 33.3mhz.. and if you use pc133 memory... it shouldn't be a problem. Or at least it seems like it shouldn't. Perhaps I'm just stupid.
do you have the jumper settings for it?
EDIT: I found a site with info on how to do this... http://www.bekkoame....imai/g3ce2.html
is this what you tried, doggdamac?

THM,
The #1 method jumper settings on that page seem about the same as the ones I tried, even though I got mine somewhere else. However, you will never get a precise and stable timing adjustment using only jumper settings. They just aren't that accurate by themselves, hence the resistors and such on the underside........ this is the main reason this mod doesn't work well /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I did not, nor would I, risk removing any resistors just to see if method #2 works. I need/like my mac too much.......
I did however, take advantage of the CPU upclocking capability, to take a stock 350/G3 to 450, and then later to take my OWC G4/550 to 650, where it has been running completely stable for over 2 years /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
IMHO, there are too many other things that can/will go haywire when you start doing these types of mods
And BTW, people who ask questions are NOT stupid, only those who dont!
