I always used to find an interesting sub-thread and click on a post to read the subsequent responses. Now when I view in threaded mode and click on a post in a sub-thread, all I see is that one single post -- nothing below it; no "next" button either (hate those anyway). Looks like the only way I can follow the conversation is to manually scroll down and find the heading again, and click on posts one by one.
Is there no longer a way to jump into a thread at an interesting point & read subsequent responses? Do I now have to switch my prefs to expand all responses in order to read posts in sequence? That would rob me of the overview, which is really important.
Am I missing something here? I mean, it's one thing to complain about aesthetics, but this thread thing would be a terrible information design failure. I want to try to like the new web site, but if the utility of the comments is compromised, then we've taken a giant step backward.

I guess that at two or three o'clock in the morning I'm not at my best; looking back I really didn't say what I was thinking. Yes, there is the 'comments' link below each story. What I am (or was) trying to say is this:
1) We don't get the comments right at the bottom as we used to. I enjoyed not having to go through the extra navigational step of clicking yet another link.
2) We used to have all of the day's and the previous day's articles right there in a list, which is kind of what this area is like, but without dates, times, etc.
I hope I'm clearer now - although I'm still tired from last night, so I may not be much better!

What roasts my bacon is that I had to re-register my user name again, and that I lost my previous existence from the old maccentral. I am hardly a "Stranger" here, as many of you aren't either.
I miss my old avitar, but then again some users had some politically-related icons that really didn't belong in this type of forum (mac-related).

Hi.
Just to clarify, these are NOT the MacCentral forums. These are the MacWorld forums.
Since the redesign, when you go to www.maccentral.com it takes you through to www.macworld.com, and so when you click on FORUMS it takes you to the MacWorld forums which are different from the MacCentral forums.
This is probably why so many people believe their MacCentral usernames and ratings have been lost.
However, the MacCentral forums are (for the moment) still available, but there is no way to link to them from the website at the minute. However, you can find them by going to this URL:
http://forums.maccentral.com
Hope this helps.
What a pity to see this site go from being a beautiful, compact, efficient source of Mac news to a bloated, cluttered mess. It looks like MSN or something. You cannot see the wood for the trees.
I'm getting my Mac news from MacMinute from now on... I have removed MacCentral from my Bookmarks Bar.
Floop

I have noticed that some posts appear and disappear - and the main page stories seem to juxtapose often - particularly this story and the "notice anythig different story - because everything is so confusing and because it's hard to start an original post (you have to reply to someone else) - at first I didn't know that the "Welcome To The New MacCentral" and The "Notice Anything Different" were diferent stories to comment on.

Other good Mac news sites:
macsurfer.com
macminute.com
macrumors.com
macnn.com
thinksecret.com
macintouch.com
spymac.com
Clearly, MacCentral is not the only (or best) game in town.
Must-visit sites:
crazyapplerumors.com
andyi.com
Sites to avoid (promoted as news, but mostly opinions, PR and BS):
macbytes.com
jackwhispers.com
macosrumors.com
looprumors.com
