Am I going crazy? I've been back here a few times since this morning when I posted, and each time the color scheme seems a little different.
I think it's the sunlight outside my window, honestly. Everything seemed gray when I was in here this morning, but now it's greenish gray, and I have to say, it looks better. If you guys have been changing things, looks good. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hey, Grant! Yeah, I remember that well! Enjoyed having you there. I went driving up to Pahrump one time to see what was up there, and it looked like a nice place to live. Oddly, it seemed to have a lot of airports. I was seeing those flashing beacons everywhere. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif No, seriously, it looks like a nice, laid-back place to live. Good to see you again.

I see you're back in TeHaas for a little while [sorry Mods about the OT stuff for a little bit, but Shooshie and I go back a bit]. When you get back up here, send me a PM and we'll get together. Actually, there are a few private airports here. A neighbor of mine has one and flies his little 4 seater out of it. But the flashing beacons are radio towers.

I have only one complaint. The ad banner that is at the top would be so much less obtrussive if it was moved to the right and moved up either under the header with the drop down menu buttons or centered between them and the top of the Forum content.
I only have a 17" screen that I am running at 768 x 1024 (old eyes won't stand any smaller) and I lose all most all of the first screen before I can get to the content. This is very agrevating.

It's on days like today when the Paris Expo is going on that the old MacCentral story page really would have made a huge difference.
First, having comments inline with the story would have rounded out the coverage -- clicking on a link to see the comments kind of ruins it -- too much work.
Then, after I posted a comment, I wanted to see what response I got... CLICK to see the story, CLICK to see the comments, SCROLL to see my post, SCROLL and SCAN to see what responses mentioned my post -- too much work!
Finally, I wanted to see the rest of today's stories... BACK BUTTON, BACK BUTTON, SCROLL and the whole thing starts all over again -- TOO MUCH WORK!
I suspect that you aren't going to do much more tweaking after this week. Actually, I think you've probably made almost all of the changes that you are going to make. I hate to sound like the chumps who jumped overboard as soon as you changed the site, but I'm not going to keep coming back if you don't make it easier to get around.

But in the new design with the ads removed I have an unsightly gap, because the new right midsection elements don't move over to fill the void from the ads.

I see no ads, and no gaps! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

a) front page looks the same for me... no ads
b) ahhh, I misunderstood what you were talking about. The thing is, if the text columns were any wider, it would get harder to read. That's why newspapers have 5 to 6 columns per page, it's just easier on the eyes.

If it wasn't there the forum posts would extend all the way across the browser window.
