My husband and I have a business in which we need to send monthy statements that show previous balances(a rental business) and I am debating over which to use, Quicken or Quick Books? We have just entered the MAC world with the forming of a digital photography business and I will need to be doing books for both the rental business and the photography business. The bookkeeping program we purchased when we got a MAC will not do ongoing invoices. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Quicken for Mac does not create invoices or statements. But these features are part of QuickBooks for Mac.

In 1996, I started my consulting business. A very simple business structure. One person. I bill once a month. I am billing for: my time, things I purchase upon behalf of my clients (software, advertising, outside services). A small (<30) client list.
I tried to use Quicken (owned it, it was "free") for about 5 months.
No joy.
Bought QuickBooks.
Quicken is a glorified checkbook. It is NOT a business accounting system.
You need to bite the bullet and buy QuickBooks (or MYOB, http://www.myob.com/us ).
