I keep getting and error message when I try checking for updates in 10.2, is the server down or is something wrong on my end?

Well, you're not alone in getting that failure notice. Not something that would make me switch to Wind-blows though. Strangely, it worked yesterday (when you posted this) and it said that I needed a security updater to StuffIt Expander 7 which I didn't even have at the time. I didn't give it a second thought though and went ahead and did the update, thinking perhaps it would also install 7 for me.

It didn't, so later in the morning I downloaded it from Aladdin's site. I ran the updater again and it said I was up-to-date. This morning I get the failure notice, but the Mac is running excellently as usual.

Heh
Grant I did exactly same thing as you did. (downloading stuffit)
Maybe something's up, new updates perhaps?

Just tried it again, and it seems to be okay now.

Software update still seems to fail for me.

Anyone else?

Kent!

At the time of this post, Update was fine.
Now (as of 1:34am eastern time10/18/02) it did fail (Failed. Error occurred while checking)
Server down? Most likely. I'll try again later.
Apple should post (if possible) when the server may be down, for maintenance etc. in an area at their web site.
