Hello All,
I was wondering if any of you have tried to play the original myst (not the masterpiece edition) under OSX. Does it function correctly under classic, or do I need some sort of patch?

No it doesn't, and no patch is available -- nor is one likely to be made.

You might try a patch for the os instead of the game? Here is what i propose: run a mac emulator on the mac. Sounds dumb eh, but then again thats just what classic currently does so hear me out.
Check out these emulators, most are OSX native and one even emulates color, you will however need to get the ROM off an older machine. This should run your Myst just fine.

OR, just go out and purchase the OS X version

Um, I may be missing something here, but I have absolutely no problem playing the original Myst under classic in OS X. My setup is:
400MHz Blue & White G3
288 MB of Ram
ATI Rage 128
Mac OS 10.2.8
Mac OS 9.2.2 (on a seperate partition)
Myst installed on OS 9 partition with a shortcut placed in the Dock.
Can somone explain to me why this is not supposed to work? This is the first I have heard of the problem...

JoAT:
Are you talking about the original Myst, or the "Masterpiece Edition" that came out in 2000?

I'm talking the Broderbund-relased, 1993-dated original. I first read this topic a couple days ago but waited until I was at home and could check to make sure it was the original version, which it is. I really have not had a single problem playing the game under classic.
What kind of problem are others seeing when trying to play under classic?

I could never figure out that game ... I'm almost afraid to pop in the disc to see if it works with OS X.

I can get it to run fine but I can't load or save games. This is on 10.4.1 running classic mode. Anyone have any idea why?
