I just had to get myself out of Duality 3 trouble under 10.1.5 this morning. I had installed Duality 3.0 about 3 months ago and applied some type of Lime Green theme.

Today I wanted to get rid of that theme and go back to the Aqua default theme. Well, Duality wouldn't give me a complete Aqua theme restore. My folders, scroll bars and buttons still had the Lime green theme after doing the Aqua restore in Duality at least 10 times.

I then tried using the Aqua Restore Theme on the Max Themes site but that didn't help. Duality didn't recognize it as a "valid" theme. (Perhaps because I'm using v3.0.)

What finally saved me to go do damage again was AquaFix 1.1a. This is the version to use if you're running 10.1. If you're running 10.2, you must use AquaFix 1.5.

For anyone in Aqua restore theme hell trying to get out and nothing else works, give AquaFix 1.1a/1.5 a shot! I ended up sending the kid who made this an email thanking him.

You can download AquaFix on VersionTracker or on the creator's site: http://gordon.sourcecod.com/

I too have Milk installed, and have noticed an increase in speed on my computer. Not only that, but Milk is so p-r-e-t-t-y... images/icons/grin.gif

The irony is killing me... less than an hour after I had typed up that post, MetamorphX gave me a huge-### headache... I tried switching out of Milk, froze application, so I logged out. Couldn't log back in, so I restarted, and a few minutes later, I was staring at the unaminous "blue screen of death". Whiped out the "OSX Help!" Macworld issue and tried to use fsck to repair the system, but to no avail. After tinkering for longer than I cared for, I decided to reinstall Jaguar (I had forgotten how long it takes to install that!).

And now, I am back to Aqua... I think I'll stick to Shadowkiller to speed up Aqua. images/icons/wink.gif

lol, serves you right for using MetamorphX. Haven't we been talking about Duality here?

Just to reiterate:

Duality 3.11 (nothing lower or higher)
Milk 1.22 (nothing lower or higher)

This combination is tried and true on 10.2.1. Change those variables and unknown things can happen.

:-)

Well AppleLaw, I did what you suggested. Everything went perfect. I really like
the Milk theme. I don't know if I notice
an increase in speed. I'll have to work
a while to see.

But at least by following your installation
I didn't screw up my machine!

By the way, Milk did not change my Snow icons. They stayed the same??

Thanks for that Applelaw. I now have a G4 that looks like XP and a PC that runs OSX!! (OSX Theme)
Must be something wrong with me...

Yes, yes, but do remember that I installed MetamorphX several weeks ago. images/icons/wink.gif

Anyway, I think I'll stay away from hacks for a little while until I get some more experience (14-year old talking here)... But I will still stand by Shadowkiller. images/icons/grin.gif

Tsk, tsk iPenseur...you didn't read my post right before your "irony" post.

You might have prevented reinstalling Jag if you had tried AquaFix 1.5 for Jag.

Although I didn't mention this in my post, but according to the AquaFix creator:

Running AquaFix from the command line

AquaFix can be run from the command line simply by typing "aquafix" at the command prompt in the Terminal application. This means you can restore aqua defaults even if your interface is messed up to the point of being unable to boot into OS X. The procedure for running AquaFix when you cannot boot X is as follows:

1. Start up your computer holding command-s
2. When you get a command prompt, type /sbin/fsck -y and press return
3. When the prompt returns, type /sbin/mount -uw / and press return
4. Type aquafix at the prompt and press return
5. Continue booting OS X by typing exit at the prompt and pressing return.

I hadn't been on the net for some time, and my computer crashed before you posted it, so... images/icons/wink.gif

Also, there would have been no way for me to run it, since I didn't know how to trun it from the command line anyway (before your last post). images/icons/wink.gif

Anyway, I still think themes are great, and (while I had it) Milk certainly gave me a nice speed boost, but I'll settle for Aqua for now. Hopefully, Apple will give us back Appearence settings in the next OSX release. images/icons/smile.gif

I'm running Mac OS X 10.1.5 and I tried Duality 3.1.1 and the Milk 1.2.2 theme and Duality tells me the theme is not compatible with my system???

Any ideas? Help please!
Thanks,
Diego.

Diego,

Milk 1.22 is for Jaguar only, I believe. You should find Milk 1.21.

Actually, if you download the Duality Started Edition (from the same people), you will get 3 included themes: Milk 1.21 and 2 Win XP themes.

They should be compatible with 10.1.5.
