I'm trying to do something and I need some suggestions.
I prefer to take handwritten notes in meetings and sometimes studying so I'm looking for a scanner that will scan my 8.5x11 pages into the computer and then a software package to let me manage these pages. I don't have any desire to convert my scribbles into text, just to store, catalog, keyword and find them easily.
I'm using OS X 10.2.4 and have plenty of storage (160g firewire drive).
If you have recommendations or suggestions I'd appreciate hearing them.
Thanks,
Dave Doyle

Well, you could actually try iPhoto ... once the images are scanned, they're just that - images. I'm not sure what formats iPhoto will handle beyond JPEG (perhaps anything QuickTime can do?), but you could then put each event into an "album" for easy future reference. Main advantage: It's free!
There are other solutions, of course; search on version tracker for "Media catalog" or "catalog" or "media library," things like that. Canto is one name that comes to mind, though I don't recall a specific product.

Rob,
Canto's Cumulus looks like it might work - but it's only a Classic app. Don't think I could stand to use it.
I'll give iPhoto a try, but it won't keep multi page docs together too well.

Another program that you might think about is Filemaker Pro. You can create a database with this program. No sense in scanning all of the pages if you can't find what you need in a hurry. The only disadvantage is price.

Yea, they announced OS X versions of their software, due out at "the end of September 2003" ... sigh. I know there are at least a couple of OS X options out there somewhere...
