yea, find out who REALLY made the printer, then see if they have mac drivers for it /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
ps dell doesnt make it's own printers, just rebrands them......IIRC from either canon or epson, 95% of which should have mac drivers. If not, try the Gimp drivers at www.sourceforge.net, which will easily intergrate into OS X.........gotta love unix & open source /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The Dell 720 is a rebadged Lexmark Z615. Try to set up the printer using the OS X driver for the Lexmark Z605. Which can be downloaded from Lexmark OS X printer driver page.

Hi,
Can anyone give me a link to a driver that WORKS for the Samsung ML1740 laser printer? Samsung stopped updating their drivers for Mac after OS 10.3.0 as they believe the os is "unstable" and buggie (their words). My printer will print, but only one page at a time with a 5 second break that winds down the printer and winds it up again. Makes the advertised "17 pages per minute" unacheiveable.
Any direct link to a driver would be greatly appreciated! I have searched around but haven't found a driver for this printer and this OS (10.3.5)

The Samsung ML-1740 uses the same language as the ML 1710. Try this CUPS driver.

Hey!
How did you find that? I "scoured" that site and couldn't find that. Of course by that point it was 2:30 am and my girlfriend was hanging over my shoulder wondering when she could print off her paper.
I'll try it out and let you know if my "sleeping printer" syndrome has woken.
s.
ps Thanks

Hi,
I got home and looked at the site you sent, but I have to admit that I am way out of my element with this. I have owned my very first computer now for almost a month, and I can't figure out what it is I am supposed to do. It looks like I need GhostScript to install the driver (gdi), however, it also looks like I need to get into Unix and type code. THAT, quite simply, scares me. I can see me screwing something up without direction. I know this sounds tedious but can someone give step by step instructions on what I am supposed to do?

Hi,
Can anyone help me on this? I have tried the link and decided that it is not an OS X download. All I get is text rather than an install. I looked at the Gimp site but they don't support the ML 1740. Damit Samsung! Their website has OS X as an optional download driver but it doesn't work properly.
Anyone?

SUCCESS!
I never got the linux driver to work, but I ended up talking to my girlfriend's cousin who works at IBM's call centre (who knew?). Anyway, he told me to change the print quality from 600dpi to 300dpi and voila, now my printer screams /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif . Apparently 600dpi vs. 300dpi is an information difference of four fold, which is why it took significantly longer for my print jobs to happen. So the problem wasn't with the driver in the first place. Why couldn't Samsung have offered some suggestions instead of just brushing me off as a foolish Mac user? <shrug>
