Just this morning, I had my TiBook 1Ghz do something wacky for the first time ever. As it woke up from sleep, the screen brightened normally and then went completely dark. I reset the power and it booted up normally until the desktop and icons appeared and then it reverted back to barely visible. Has done it every time since. But as soon as I push a DVI-VGA connector in the port it is fine, without even the monitor being connected...loose connector you think? This is the first time I have had this happen in the two years that I have had this powerbook. anybody else ever get this problem? thanks in advance

Have you taken it back to Apple yet?
I haven't had that problem but sometimes when I wake it, the Powerbook's screen goes dark. Putting it back to sleep again and waking it seems to fix it.
I hope you solve your problem soon.

No I haven't yet, I was hoping that it was something that I could easily fix here at home if someone else knew what it was...It isn't the usual wake from sleep and dark screen problem that others have. It wakes up just fine and will also boot up just fine until the desktop is fully loaded with the clock updated and all the icons showing. Than it goes extremely dark where you can just barely see it. I am leaning towards somehow the graphics card is compromised...the reasoning behind it is that with a dvi adaptor (but no monitor hooked up) takes the problem completely away.

Just as a whim, have you check your energy saver preferences to make sure the slider for "Put display to sleep" hasn't gotten shifted all the way to the left?

Nope, all that is still good...funny...not sure what causing it but leaving the dvi connector plugged in stops the problem. thank you however
