Hello, I've just ordered my new Powerbook, very excited!
My question is this - I sometimes have to design simple things like menus, birthday invites, flyers etc & for this I'd use Corel Draw on my PC (I also used Microsoft Publisher which is much the same thing as Corel) I'd then print it out on my home printer. What software would be the equivalent to use on my new Mac? I don't want anything too complicated, someting with the amateur user in mind.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

You can get Corel for the Mac. Not Publisher though. (as a graphic designer I have to say that Publisher is evil. When I worked at the commercial printer we used to cringe when we got .pub files. It's just not a pre-press freindly app).
Anyway, you could get virtual PC and run what you are used to.
Or, you could go with Mac corel and get either Quark XPress or Adobe InDesign for the layout of such things you mentioned.
Or get the Adobe CS that comes with Photoshop, Illustrator (would replace Corel), and InDesign - the whole DTP shebang.
Some options - T

The mostly neglected Appleworks works well too. It's Draw module is so easy to use for what you describe that even I can manage it.

If you are a graphic designer, go with the Adobe CS package.
If you only need to design stuff occasionaly, then get CorelDraw for Mac since you are used to it. You will not need any page layout program since CorelDraw has some layout capabilities. But if you require it you can get Quark XPress or InDesign

InDesign is great and straightforward to use. I've always preferred Freehand over Illustrator. But the Adobe CS is a good package.
