Microsoft Corp. on Monday announced antitrust settlements with Novell Inc. and the Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA), ending years of legal wrangling. The settlement with CCIA ends an eight-year investigation and antitrust case brought by the U.S. Department of Justice. CCIA was the final group challenging a November 2002 settlement ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly. more

Without doubt, one of the dumbest posts I've seen on here.
Clinton, Bush, nor Kerry would have gotten involved in this crap one way or another.
Clinton gave lip service to their case during his term - they never followed up - it was just pandering to people like you who buy their propaganda.
The problem is with the courts and judges - take your ravings there.

1) Novell gets over half a BILLION dollars in CASH.
2) The antitrust agreement "settles some potential litigation to our advantage," said Novell spokesman Hal Thayer in an interview. "We think this is very straightforward."
3) Novell retained the right to sue for WordPerfect damages.
How is this a bad deal for Novell, Macinmmortal? It looks to me like Novell got a sweet deal. Novell has been in a ditch because they were arrogant and they stuck with IPX when the whole world moved to TCP/IP. All those Sun boxes serving up the Internet could have been Novell boxes.

You people have very short memories. The whole problem started with Bush. Microsoft was found guilty in the Clinton administration, and then the penalty ruling after Bush came in turned into being a marketing exercise for Microsoft. I do not like to comment on other people's politics but when they affect the whole world indirectly (CCIA and Novell withdrawing from EEC case - this is buying themselves [Microsoft] out of a un-winable case).
And the courts are to blame? You only have to turn to the farcical previous election in the USA to see the collusion between Bush and the supreme court. You have created the monster and now the whole world has to put up with the consequences.
The only hope we have is Open source and believe me we will fight back. The long-term consequences of that will be disastrous for the US. And I too do not want to be in the "I told you so" group, but it will happen.

I learned very early in life that when someone turns a debate personal then their argument has no foundation. "Foolish," It is Americans that the whole world is laughing at. How could you put such a person back in charge? Fortunately 45% of Americans get it.
