My old B&W G3 crashed recently, and in the process of recovering the hard drive, I bought a new iMac G5.
I have an entire iPhoto library recovered from my old Mac, but how do I add it to the existing one on the new G5, so that I have all my Albums, dates, etc??
I tried importing the individual photos, which does work, but leaves behind the important organization of albums, and the dates all say 1 Jan 1980.
I have done a cursory search of help and some forums, but have found nothing that addresses this situation.
Any suggestions?

How many photos do you have in the new library? If you don't have many then you can switch libraries.
If you have the whole iPhoto library rescued from your old computer you can use that library as the new library and import the photos from your G5 library.
With iPhoto closed, move the library out of the pictures folder or rename to iPhoto Library old.
Move your rescued library into the Pictures folder making sure it is named iPhoto Library.
Open iPhoto.
Click Find Library.
Select the library and click Open.
You can then import folders of photos from the library you took out of the Pictures folder of the new G5.
They are organized by year, month, date. In the folder for the day are the Originals folder, Thumbnail folder, Data folder, and the photos. Import a folder with just the photos.
You can name the folder with the date, or you can organize your photos into other folders such as christmas, Easter, Summer 2004, anything to make it easier when you import the folder into iPhoto.
