I have an FW disk with OSX and a number of utilities and have now installed TT there, too. I just thought I'd see if I could make this concept of an eDrive work (it's new to me).
Never did, though. Turned out that the eDisk was created empty, never mind what I did. I even manually installed OSX on it and then TT, but my computer never managed to boot from it whether I tried through TT or when holding the option.
But no worries at all. As I wrote, I have it on the LaCie FW disk where I keep other tools. So I'm content and happy anyway.

In principle the eDrive works fine... I have used it only once as a part of a test but since I prefer a dedicated volume/drive, I have not tested and learned the quirks of convolutions called eDrive to any appreciable extent. I am glad to learn that things are in a satisfactory control for you.
Personally, I try to have all of my machines maintained well enough that I never need to find out if and how well "eDrive" actually works as a last option. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
