Hi,
Is Powerbook G4 12" not a good choice?
I have been reading some messages and I see a lot of complains about Powerbook G4 12". What exactly does "wobbling" mean? Does it mean that it "shakes" a lot, or it vibrates? Powerbook G4 12" was the Powerbook I was planning to buy. Should I choose something else?
Thank you.
Andre

The wobbling means that the unit's base is uneven due to either the rubber feet or because of the Al warping during high temps.
As for whether you should buy it, it's your choice really. Here's some advice though. It could be that there are tons more people who have good units and are too busy playing with their new toy to post anything here. But then again it could not be the case. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi Andre,
The 12" Powerbook is a great choice if it has all the features you need or want.

Don't delay a purchase because you hear complaints on forums.
The people who have complaints or problems ( I was one who had a couple of negative observations about my 12" Powerbook) are few compared to the many who have only possitive comments and experiences.
My unit doesn't wobble. The latch works great. There is no gap when I close my unit. It does get warm, and hot sometimes. And my battery doesn't lay flush with the surface, but it is a minor issue, I had Applecare note in case it gets woorse.
Good luck with your purchase.
Peter

hi
I just receive the 12" powerbook and I love it. This was my first mac and i have never been so happy with a computer. The first night after receiving the my babe(12") it was a little hot but not that much anymore. Otherwise my babe is perfect. This is beginning of a beatiful relationship.

I've heard lots of good things about them, with only a few negatives. Remember the release of the original Ti? Message boards were FLOODED with people complaining about problems. Seems like many fewer problems with this, although there are bound to be a few with almost any 'Rev A' product.
Nice name. 'Call Girl'. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In my case the wobbling is very slight and caused by battery that's not perfectly even with the rest of the case, which makes one of the rubber legs slightly longer.

Lucky you! My 12" baby came in with dead hard drive and week later I still wait for the return box to arrive so I could send it out for repair.

Is the Powerbook G4 12" the only major complain in the Powerbook scenery?
Based on these agues, maybe the Powerbook G4 15.2" 867Mhz should be a lot more defectless than the Powerbook G4 12". Does this information proceed?
Do we have a "comparison of satisfaction" between these two powerbooks, so we can clearly see what is realy wrong with the machine, and what is just bad luck?
As far as you've been telling us, the biggest part of the complains are just bad luck.
This should be avoided if you are able to go tho the store and examine it yourself, shouldnt it?
Best wishes,
Andre.

I just got a 12" yesterday and it is extremely great (I am biased b/c I'm switching from an old PC, but I can't get enough of it). And it doesn't wobble. My only complaint is that I have to go to work and sleep.

Actually, it turns out that the first batch of TiPB that came out also had a lot of problems. The TiPB you see now is after constant revisions and corrections. Since the AlPB is new, there's bound to be some minor problems. Some people say that the new 12 incher has less problems at launch than the 15 Titanium did when it was released.

Ok,
...but now I would like to ask you to please explain me what is the batch of TiPB, and also what is the AlPB.
Sorry, I'm just startin' my "mac relationship..."
How do I know if the PB G4 12" for sale here is the old one, with these problems you have mentioned, or if it is the is the one that's reviewd and corrected?
Is it possible to know it?
Thank's
Andre.
