Ti is for titanium and Al is for aluminum.
As far as I know, there has only been one release of the 12" and this is it.
Powerbook G4 12", not a good idea?

The initial TiBook problems are a good example of only hearing complaints. I bought my Ti 400 early in the run, and it was perfectly fine. It's true that people don't tend to come and post if they aren't having problems, and people who do have problems tend to be prolific in their venting due to the understandable frustrations.

"Actually, it turns out that the first batch of TiPB that came out also had a lot of problems. The TiPB you see now is after constant revisions and corrections. Since the AlPB is new, there's bound to be some minor problems. Some people say that the new 12 incher has less problems at launch than the 15 Titanium did when it was released."
-----so AlPB 12 incher, even with less problems at launch than the 15 Titanium did when it was released, should be OK after some months...that means that I would have no major problems with it if I buy it by the end of the year. Right?
Thanks,
Andr.

I checked out the 12" PB over the weekend. Overall I think it is very elegant. There were 2 things that bugged me: one is that it was very hot at the bottom - much hotter than my 12" iBook; the other is that along the grey plastic rim that merges the aluminum, there is a clear uneven gap (though small) suggesting that things are stuffed really tight inside. Otherwise it looks incredible and it is way faster than the iBook with the G3 processor!
