Pong requires Mac OS X v10.2.8.

I don't know why, but that's the funniest thing I've read all day.
Actually, the whole article is hilarious. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see these games available again--it gives me a chance to relive my childhood without spending the quarters. But it says a lot about the state of Mac gaming when PCers get the latest and greatest games...and we get Pong.

I think it's great these are available. I just got Aperion for OS X. The sound is great. I purchased 3 of those little consoles you plug into your TV. The ones with PacMan, DigDug, Frogger and Mappy. I just want some simple mindless diversion. Mind games are also fun; like Alchemy.
I really have little desire for the latest and greatest action games on my computer. But it is funny that one needs OS X 10.2.8 for Pong, when McDonalds gives little handheld games away that seem more complicated...
Keep on keeping on!

I guess you missed this part: "Included are modernized, 3D version of" Who knows, maybe they have some crazy vertex shaders on that pong ball. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Anyway, the concept is good, but the choices of games wasn't so good. These games would probably make good dashboard widgets.

I think it says infinitely more about your perception of Mac gaming, if you think this is all there is.

MAME is a great app which is unfortunately not supported by the original software developers. Companies like Atari, SEGA, et al are missing the boat here much as the RIAA and MPAA are. If the owners of the original ROMs were to make the ROMs legally purchasable, a la iTMS, these companies could make some profit off of their old school classics.
Image a legitimate site where you could download a copy of Space Invaders, Ms. PacMan, Zaxxon, Tokio, Donkey Kong, etc., for about $0.99 a pop. This would allow MAME users to get ROMs legally, the developers get some green and the MAME developers to perhaps get some assistance in fixing ROMs that have compatibility issues.
Just a thought.

I've written about StarROMs before. The company sells licensed ROMs compatible with MAME from a variety of classic Atari arcade titles. I wish more people would use them -- maybe more companies would license their ROMs accordingly.
