My superdrive will only burn from the desktop. It will not burn from iPhoto, iTunes, or even Toast.
Here is a quick chronology:
Unable to burn from iTunes for a couple months.
Up until the other day I was able to burn from Toast but now it reports "Illegal request" ox72, 0x03 "Lead in or lead out failed to be written"
I checked if I could burn from iPhoto and it failed while verifying disk.

Here's what I have tried so far:
Burning at lower speed (1x or 2x)
Ran Cocktail with all features including Repair Permissions
Zapped PRAM
Ran Tech Tool Deluxe (Passed all tests)
Ran Disk Warrior (Directory replaced with no problems)

It seems like it may be a software problem as the superdrive is able to burn. Is there a file that could be corrupted?!! Should I archive and install OSX? HELP!!
As previously stated right now I can only burn from the desktop and but am able to do it at maximum speed.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!
-Roger

Reinstall Toast and make sure you are running the newest versions of iPhoto and iTunes. You may even try reinstalling iTunes or iPhoto, if need be, but definitely reinstall Toast. Sometimes there is a problem sort of like the old extensions issues in OS 9.

THANKS!!
I feel kind of dumb for not thinking of that before. lt fixed the problem on burning with Toast. I will reinstall the latest versions of iPhoto and iTunes and see what happens there.
Thanks again!

Glad you got Toast/burning up and running, but before I'd do a re-install of iPhoto, and iTunes I'd try quitting the programs and trashing the prefs: ~[Home]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist and com.apple.iTunes.plist. You might be surprised just what brand new prefs can do if they are corrupt.
