Hi
I'm buying a new iBook after the Mac Expo (so in about a week ish), which obviously comes pre-installed with MacOS X and other such goodies.
What I'm wondering is will I get proper MacOS X installation media, or as someone mentioned to me, will I simply get a "restoration" image on disc that will only allow me to reinstall to the state of how Apple make it when it's shipped to me?
Thx /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

You will get 3 discs w/ the iBook. # 1 & 2 will be the restore discs, and #3 will be the "additional applications" disk, which is optional installers for various apps & utilities. If you buy the applecare, you will get a registration kit also, most of which is on a CD too.
The restore discs are just that, and NOT for installing OS X on other computers, since they are machine specific........
If you want a general purpose copy of OS X, you'll need to buy a RETAIL copy. But wait 'till after MacWorld next week, to see how soon Tiger 10.4 is coming, may be worth it to wait /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
