Tropical Software Inc. has released TopXNotes, a utility for editing and organizing notes that features more robust features than TextEdit, such as the ability to embed links, the inclusion of ten templates, the ability to create unique application settings for each system user and more. Its NoteOrganizer opens a table of contents in a separate window, with notes organized by groups or categories, while QuickNotes keeps your ten most frequently used notes in a floating window on your desktop. Pricing is US$19.95 and Mac OS X v10.2 is required. more

While I appreciate the fact that this program undoubtedly has more features than does TextEdit, I cannot figure out why the author would indicate that TextEdit does not have the ability to embed links. I embed links to webpages in TextEdit all the time. So what's the problem? Perhaps he is referring to more sophisticated links than simple links to web pages? But regardless of what TextEdit does or does not have, very shortly (on the 22nd) Apple's new program Pages will come out. The more important question then is will Pages have all the features that TopXNotes has? How do they compare?
