I receive Power Point attachments in some of my emails but can't find an application that will open them. Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Ideally you need MS Office, or at least MS PowerPoint X. If not that, there other commercial and shareware apps available for viewing them - check versiontracker.com or macupdate.com. The only freeware viewers I know of are older programs (eg. PowerPoint 98 viewer - search for it and I'm sure it's still around for download) which run under classic, but may not be able to open a PP file made with a newer version of the program.
Keynote should also open PowerPoint files.

.pps files open directly into PowerPoints slide show, while .ppt files open in editor mode. They both still need PowerPoint or compatible viewers to see them. MS does not make an updated powerpoint viewer for OS X - the best you can get is PowerPoint Viewer 4 for classic, and even that you won't find any longer on MS's web site. It can be downloaded from www.tucows.com.
You could also ask the sender to save it as a .mov file and then view it with Quicktime.
<edit> Seems you can still get Powerpoint viewer 98 from Mactopia.com and run it in classic, if need be.
