Outlook Express OS9 files to OSX ?

This is actually pretty easy to do.
The first question is how you are going to move the necessary files across. One way is to place them on a backup media (CD or external drive), and then just read them on the new Mac. If both your old Mac and new Mac have Firewire ports, you can use " Target disk mode " to move files from one system to the other very quickly. If not, but if they both have Ethernet ports, you can use File Sharing between the two Mac's using a simple Ethernet cable and copy the files over that.
Under current OS 9 system, locate the folder "Microsoft User Data" under your Documents folder. Back that up so you can install it on the OS X Mac. (you might look inside, you should find a "Identities" folder, and inside that folder another "Main identity" folder. Inside there you should find files named "Database" and "Messages". These should have modification dates corresponding to the last time you ran Outlook Express.)
When you get to your new OS X system, place that "Microsoft User Data" folder in your home Documents folder. (If you don't know what a "Home" is, don't worry about it now, you'll learn soon enough as soon as you start using OS X.)
The new Mac should come with a copy of Outlook Express installed as well as OS X. That Outlook Express will run under "Classic" mode. Run Outlook Express on the new Mac, and verify the old mail is now on the new Mac.
OS X comes with its own "Mail" application. You can move your mail from Outlook Express into the OS X Mail application by simply using the "Import mailboxes" function in the OS X Mail application.
