Game recommendations?

I'm really not much of a gamer but I enjoy games like Icewind Dale. I don't really like FPS games (mostly since I'm not very good at them). Any recommendations? I like the questing, puzzles, etc. but I'm not really looking for games like Tomb Raider which have first person points of view.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Just a point of correction -- "games like Tomb Raider" use a third person point of view, not first. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
If you're considering another role playing game, include Knights of the Old Republic, which I liked enough last year to name to our 2004 Game Hall of Fame. And if you would like to try your hand at a massively multiplayer online role playing game, check out World of Warcraft. It's phenomenal.

Thanks Peter, you are correct. What I meant was games where you control just an individual person. I have tried the demos of Tomb Raider and some Star Trek Voyager game. I just can't get into FPS games. Master of Orion II and Stronghold are my favorites. I have MOO III but I just can't believe how complicated it is. Any opinions on Baldurs Gate (I or II) or Neverwiniter Nights?

Neverwinter Nights is a lot of fun, too. True Dungeons & Dragons rules.
Dungeon Siege has a very different pace to it, but it's also an excellent RPG-style game, with this caveat: You have to like "dungeon crawls." It's more or less non-stop action in an RPG setting.

Hi,
What about the Myth series from Bungie? I have always liked the RTS style gaming plus they are available for OS X through updates or patches or something of that sort. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hi,
AOM definitely is a great game. Purchased it way back in December of '03 I believe and I still play it to this day.

Try ActionSoft's Midnight Mansion. It's an adventure/arcade game with lots of exploring - similar to the '80's game "Montezuma's Revenge". Better yet, you can win a copy this weekend if you come up with the winning caption for the Caption Contest at PC Weenies.org.

You might want to try Warcraft III. It has a superb single player campaign and the multiplayer is phenomenal. It has, arguably, the best online multiplayer community of any game. Warcraft III also incorporates some RPG elements in that, along with your regular units, you get to control up to three hero units which can level up and gain special abilities. It is, however, very much a RTS with some RPG elements. So only buy it if you like RTS's.
You asked about Baldurs Gate. I haven't played part 1, but I can tell you that Baldurs Gate II is an absolutely unbelievable game. I rate it as the best game I've ever played. If you enjoyed Icewind Dale, you're going to love this. The graphics engine is going to look a bit dated compared to current games, however the gameplay is second to none. The plot is incredibly well thought out but, at the same time, non-linear enough that you truly feel like you're exploring a huge world rather than just completing a pre determined story.
Neverwinter Nights is a good game, but its true strength lies in the ability to play online with others in player created worlds. The single player campaign is not nearly as engaging as Baldurs Gate. So if you're not interested in playing online, BG is probably a better choice.
