Importing video from sony camcorder to imovie

I have a sony dcr-trv11 camcorder and I am trying to import into imovie. I have done this in the past with no problems but that was a couple of years ago. I have upgraded the OS and have a newer version of imovie. I can't get imovie to see the camcorder. I have seen some previous posts with the same issue. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I know Hi 8 cameras have having issues with the new version.
