Hello
OK .. I am having an issue that I have been trying to resovle for quite some time and I seem to be in a cycle of uninstalls/reinstalls. I had 8.5 on my Imac 266 G3. I did a clean install of 9.0.4 and was unable to open the OS after a restart (error : sorry, a system error has occurred address error)
From this point, I was informed it may be a firmware issue. I reinstalled OS 8.5 and downloaded the firmware that corresponds with my machine. However, upon start up of OS 8.5, I get this message : Sorry a system error has occurred unimplimented trap and prompts me to restart. This is not fixed after multiple installs and initializing the disk.
So, I tried going back to 8.1, this installed. Tried updating the firmware and causes my machine to "go crazy" and eventually freeze. This is not with the launch of the update but with the file just being on my machine.
I have cycled through installs/uninstalls of all versions of the OS with the same result each time, no matter what I do. Does any one have any ideas ?? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

You could try DiskWarrior to straighten out the directory damage you might have caused (you can probably get v.2.1.1 off eBay and save money. It's all you need for that Mac). Then try the firmware install again to see if it went through. Then install 9.0.4.
