Recently somebody asked how to get an Apple II printer to work with a USB Cube. I have a similar question, except that my printer is an Apple Personal LaserWriter 320 and my computer is a Dual 450 (USB) furnished with OS 9.2 and Jaguar. I'm told that I have to get a Localtalk-to -ethernet adapter. Does anybody know for sure if that would do the trick? Any specific adapter to recommend?null

The ONLY method of connecting a PLW 320 to a new Mac is with the use of a Localtalk-to-ethernet adapter. There are two such devices currently on the market - the Asante "AsanteTalk" and the Farallon "iPrint Adapter LT". Both work well and cost about the same - but if you want a recommendation, buy the iPrint device. It does not suffer from a "feature" designed into the Asantetalk, which requires the AsanteTalk to be powered up in a specific sequence in relation to the printer it is connected to.
When connected via a Localtalk-to-ethernet device, this printer will work with all Macs equipped with an ethernet port, and it will be supported by ALL past and current MacOS versions.
