Although I am aware of a few sites that will allow you to convert an RSS feed to Javascript that can be embedded into a web page, does anyone know of any software for the Mac that will do this?

I'm not sure I understand the question. You want your Mac to process RSS feeds for use by a website? Any reason in particular?

This page - http://jade.mcli.dis...dex.php?s=about - is the About page for website that offers the free service of generating Javascript from a RSS feed.

As the "About" page states, "Think of it as a box you define on your web page that is able to update itself, whenever the source of the information changes, your web page does too, without you having to do a single thing to it."

Here's the webpage that a person goes to in order to generate the javascript - http://jade.mcli.dis...dex.php?s=build
I saw one web site that offered software that would do the same thing. Actually, once you look at the Javascript that is created, it's not that complex. So, software for doing this is probably "overkill."
Sorry for not being clearer.

Well, I understand the software. I'm just curious as to why you'd want your Mac to do it. There are many existing services that will do this. Also, there are many ways to deliver RSS feed content other than Javascript (which are generally many times more efficient).
Is there a particular page you're planning on embedding RSS content into?

Sorry. I guess that although I typically have access to the Internet, it might be easier if I had software to do it. So I guess for all practical purposes, it's not worth using software to do this, since this is not the type of thing that is done constantly; I could always wait until I get on the Internet.
You mentioned that there are other ways of feeding RSS content to a web page than through Javascript. Can you point me to some web sites that describe and explain how to use these other methods? I'd be very interested in learning of these other methods.
In regard to your question about a particular web page in which I wanted to embed the RSS feed, I was actually thinking of embedding it into textboxes in courses in our course management system, Blackboard. I got the idea from this webpage - http://jade.mcli.dis...hives/lta44.php
Thanks for your comments.

Well, the services they mentioned, in particular the one you mentioned, does exactly what you described. Why would you want to get your Mac involved?
I actually display RSS content in several places on my website. Because I'm using WordPress, which is PHP based, it was easy for someone to come up with a plugin for it that reformats RSS content for the page. For that I use Bill Rawlinson's WordPress RSS Linklist Plugin which uses LastRSS as a backend.
I imagine it's possible to do something similar with your course management software if it's PHP based. It requires no intervention on my part and updates by itself. All you need is some software that will run on your server.

I suppose somebody could quickly throw together an RSS to Javascript tool for the Mac, but as others have mentioned, it could be redundant to the online converters. :P
For what it's worth, here's an RSS to Javascript converter that I made that you may find helpful....
RSS to Javascript Converter -- No Linkback Required!
Hope it helps!
