I want to play DVDs as i go to sleep, but the Apple DVD Player will not allow the screen to sleep/dim. is there any way that i can get the screen to go to sleep after a movie plays and it is sitting at the menu?

but you will never find out if the butler did it or not. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
you probably have to go into your energy settings and put it down with that. but that will require you to set the time each night unless you are pretty regular with your bedtime. and that's a shutdown and not a sleep.

I love this free app, it will sleep the computer after any amount of time. I have it sleep the Mac after playing iTunes for a while. For a DVD you should set it to any time longer than the movie you're watching.

What I like about it is that you don't have to change your Energy Saver settings.
If you just want to sleep the screen, this probably won't help.

Is the DVD Player application scriptable? I guess you (or someone who knows how) could write an Applescript to quit DVD Player after the movie finishes playing. Then, the Energy Saver settings could take over.
