I recently added an Iomega Zip100 USB to my G4 (OS 9.2)and now things are just a mess and I don't know why.
1. If I drag a file to or from the G4 or the zip to copy from one to the other my computer freezes when the copy process only about 1/2 way complete.
2. Sometimes just inserting the zip disk causes the system to freeze.
What I've done:
I installed the drivers from the Iomega CD prior to connecting they zip.
I have rebuilt the desktop the try and debug the problem.
I don't know what else to do and would appreciate ANY help or suggestions.

MMH:

The software to run the Zip is built into your OS ROM. The Zip software you installed is conflicting with the software in the ROM.

Remove what you installed, then try your Zip! Be careful that you only remove what you installed - don't remove anything that was installed by the OS. For example check each Zip USB extension with Get Info to see what date it was installed before you remove it.

It would be safer to disable the suspect extensions and try operating before trashing them.

Definitely make sure you're running the blank>latest version of the Iomega software.

There's also a known problem with some of the newer versions of the Apple CD/DVD drivers. On some of my client's computers, I've had to backgrade to version 1.4.3 or older.

Just adding to Damien's post - you can also call Iomega. They were most helpful to me when I encountered a somewhat similar problem a couple of years ago.

I was really impressed with their quick response and help.
