It alwasy happens!
I just bought a copy of the Creative Suite last Wednesday, and now the next version is being released! I assume there is no free upgrade for recent purchasers?!

Adobe? Anyone have a clue as to when/if a free upgrade comes into effect?

That's the danger of buying stuff at the normal anniversaries for upgrades. Adobe does major upgrades about every 18 months, and it's been that long.
I would either try to return it for a refund, or call Adobe tomorrow morning and see what they say.
Too bad you didn't see the press release that slipped out last Tuesday announcing this. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

grad I bought CS yesterday, even the CS2 is better than Livepicture or xRes, the activation is too trouble to use, and you must have to on-line or you need to adobe all the time to activation and de-activation, I hate this.
I just wish Apple would buy Livepicture or xRes, then I will drop photoshop anytime.

Glad to know there's still people like Livepicture! It's really a shame that Livepicture did not succeed, the way it work just leave Photshop in the dust.
Well, all that says, I'm very interestig in the technical details of this new release. Is there any performance gain over the CS1? How they handle memory now? I heard that they're not 64-bit aware still, and Illustrator had a major rewritten of their codes... is it true? Today's CS1 have some issues when you open up several apps in the suite together and "inter-updating" the share file, in no time your apps will slow down considably and memory start to drain... did they improved?
I also want to point out that InDesign is way better then Quark, I find it annoying that it took so long for Quark to update so little, and the full-resolution preview is so sloooow... it's not like this is optional... come on, you're working on a layout and you cannot see it in full-res? where's the precision come from? numeric input can only be verifyied by print out... I hope InDesign can keep up and improve overtime, it's doing well so far, and hopefully it's going to win more support from printers.

hmmm... GoLive is now only available in the proffessional edtion? That sucks. Used to be the only difference between the standard and proffessional version was Acrobat.

Not true. The Standard CS Suite only included Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS and InDesign CS. The Pro edition was always those 3 PLUS GoLive and Acrobat.
I think I'll personally be skipping this update and waiting for CS3, whenever that may be. I just can't afford to keep buying their updates each time they come out with one, and I'm not sure I see enough value in the new features to warrant the purchase. Though the PS new vanishing point filter sounds pretty cool. I'll at least download demos when they make them available just to see if it's worth it.

"I assume there is no free upgrade for recent purchasers?!"
Relax, why start freaking out in a public forum? Adobe has always offered a free upgrade to folks who have purchased within a specific timeframe. Why don't you contact Adobe and get some speciifics before you make rash and unfounded assumptions. Geez.

The problem is that there will always be people on the wrong side of the line where the timeframe starts. Just like with the Apple upgrades. "Hey...I just bought, but they say I'm a day too early to get a free upgrade!" There's no point in the companies moving the free upgrade date earlier, because there will always be somebody who bought the day before.
P.S. If you want something you can count on, free upgrades almost never extend to before the date when a company declares the upgrade policy. If I wanted to guarantee a free upgrade to Tiger, for instance, no way would I buy any Apple computer right now.
