Since most of the posts here are people having problems, so I thought I would report on my new DP867 with OS 10.2. We recieved the machine just before leaving for Thanksgiving, so only pulled it out of the box that day. Last night we set it up with two monitors, and internet connection via a new Linksys router (set up first using a different computer).

The computer started up perfectly - both monitors came up - we did the Registration and Internet set up screens - had a desktop and away we went.

The multitasking is great - right away we played the Matrix DVD, downloaded Netscape 7 and installed it, played an MP3, opened Quicktime, ran the system profiler, and set up a few preferences ---- ALL at the same time, no problems at all. The calculator with tape is nice, makes you wonder why that couldn't of been done a few years back.

I read many concerns about the fan noise. While it is present, it is not disturbing or unexpectedly loud. It sounds more like a CD drive coming up to speed - certainly not a vacuum or blowdryer.

It is hard to judge just how fast the computer is without really getting into some work, but it definately launches programs quickly. The network printer (router to AsanteTalk) worked great, no set up problems at all. Lastly, we set up a user and password for myself, but have not been bothered by any login screens during start up (maybe I messed that up!). Extremely easy setup.

Just wait a few days, the vacuum at startup will suck your hand into the computer.
