Song Info on iPod

I have a lot of downloaded music on my laptop and when I try to change the song info in Itunes and then put it on my Ipod, it doesn't keep the changes I made. Sometimes a song title is spelled wrong and so I change it, but then it doesn't transfer to the Ipod. Any ideas how to get this to work?

Is your iPod set to automatically update?
