Have a Pismo Powerbook w/ 6gb drive in it.
Also have an HP Tablet PC out of which I yanked a 40gb hd (Toshiba MK4025GAS), and replaced that with a 100gb hd.
So, I'm trying to use the 40gb in the Pismo.
I replaced the disk, went into disk utilities to format the disk and it seemed to see it fine and formatted it. However, when I try to continue the install (OS 10.3), it doesn't see the disk as bootable.
So, the question is: is there something special about 2.5" bootable HD's in Powerbooks? I note the original disk is an IBM and is labelled with a "Mac Firmware Version ..." on it. Is there firmware required on the disk for it to be bootable on a Mac?
Thanx for any info,
rickb

Partition the drive using disk utilities on the install CD. Make the first partition 8 GB or less, and the remainder can be one partition. OSX on a G3 needs to installed the first partition of a HD and less that 8 GB.
