Help, I purchased an airport extreme and airport extrmemecard form our helpful Apple store for my G4 2002 Silver. Found out I had the wrong card aftergoing on Apple support. Returned card card to store was told only place to get card was on Ebay. Bought card, cannot get computer to recognize card. Talked to Apple support once more, They emailed me movie on how to install card, Duh! Card installed properly still will not work. Is this card a dud? Apple said most likely no as it was a new and unused card. Anyone else have this problem or any ideas. I really need to get wireless email on my laptop.
Thanks.

As you found out, your older Powermac requires an original (not Extreme) Airport card.
When you install the card, make sure you follow the directions carefully so that the card is installed correct side up. Also make sure the card is fully seated into the socket (which can take some force), and remember to connect the internal Airport antenna cable connector to its own socket on the Airport card itself.
If your Mac has no Airport menu item (right side of the MacOS menu bar) to indicate the card has been recognized, run the System Profiler utility to see whether it identifies the Airport card as part of your Mac's installed hardware.

I have a very similar problem.
I have a TiBook 667 Mhz/1GB RAM/OS 10.3.9 and have the original Airport Card that came with the system, which has worked flawlessly until a few days ago, when my computer indicated, "No AIrport Card Installed" (now there's just a "hollow" Airport icon on the upper right tool bar where usually there would be the "bars" indicating strength of signal).
I ran the System Profiler, and it says (regarding Airport Card), "No info found" (...or something like that).
So, last night I opened up myTiBook and disconnected the AIrport Card, examined it (...looked normal), and then re-connected it, making sure it was set properly, and still, after running Sys Profiler again, my system says, "No Airport Card Installed."
Any thoughts?
It's coming up on three years old...is it possible it just burned-out? Could it be something more serious? Would a clean re-install of MAC OS X have any effect at all??? I just want to eliminate any possibilities before buying a "new" replacement AIrport Card.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!

It sounds to me like the card has died...
