At Macwarehouse, you can get a CD-RW 15" Flat Screen iMac for $894. Does that make the decision any easier?

I am looking for a Mac as I'm switching from PC.
I'm an adverting student and I use mainly photoshop, quarkexpress and illustrator..what would you suggest I go for?
=============================================================
I am starting to learn photoshop and I have a 867-DP mirrored door. It runs awsome compared to some PCs I have seen. Well if you will be using those programs I would go with a tower.
Why?
1. You can add hard drive really easy. You might need them for those big files that you have?
2. Upgrade the video card.
3. If you need more ram you can add it yourself in no time.
Just to let you know I am no expert when it comes to photoshop and all the other ones you will be using. But I think a tower would be the way to go. Plus Dual cpus just rock.

I have one of the older DP G4 1 GHz Power Macs (SDRAM model, not the Mirror Door DDR ones). I use it for audio editing, web site design, graphics, and everything in between.
I would search out one of these models on eBay or in refurbished form somewhere. You'll get one heck of a deal on one demon of a computer. Personally, I upgraded mine to 1.5 GB RAM and 280 GB storage. I also have two LCD displays, an after-market mouse (Logitech MX500), and one hell of a sound system hooked up to an Audiophile 2496 sound card. Of course, I didn't buy all of this in one sitting. The point is that the Power Mac line is much more expandable than the iMac line. You will have more than enough power with a DP 1 GHz or DP 1.25 GHz right now, and if you need more in the future, there are options for you.
Good luck in your studies!

I work in a Apple repair place and those eMacs are total crap. But the iMac have been awsome. But they also do come in. What I see them come in for is LCD problems and maybe a neck prob. Lets put it this way, for every ten eMacs that come in you (might) see a bad iMac come in.

Since you'll onlt be doing surfing/email/word pro, then go easy on the eyes with an iMac and more sexy than a fanciful looking telly! Your friends will positively froth at the mouth over it than wet themselves laughing at your new telly, which icindently doesn't show any tv programmes or have a remote control for changing channels!! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Seriously, for the next 2 years that iMac will be your pride and joy, and will do Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Indesign, etc. very well - giving not too shabby an account of itself, should you venture down that path.
