Hi chaps,
Finally going broadband here in the UK (ADSL).
The family has a a Dull desktop. I have a Powerbook. I'd like to install a wireless router which the P.C and the Mac can both share.
I'm not fussed about networking the P.c and the Mac (looks complicated!) but I do want to network the printer through the router.
A few products seem to exist but mac compatibility as ever is an issue.
As I'm after the Moon on a stick, one of my printers is a three in one scanner/card reader machine (HP2179) I guess I'm asking too much for two way data traffic on this printer if it were plugged into the router?
What about the newer HP 3 in 1 printers with built in WiFi? Do they swing both ways so to speak? If so i guess the Router USB port issue isn't a problem anymore?
Thanks,
Mark

The bottom line - if you want to be able to make use of all functions on a multifunction printer via a network connection to a Mac, you must buy an all-in-one that is specifically supported by the manufacturer for use on a network. The PSC 2100 series is not supported for use on a network. HP does indeed manufacture all-in-ones that are supported for use on a network with either a built in or external cabled or wireless print server. See this table on HP's web site: Printers supported for network use
