I have a problem....I get tons of mac stuff from school...thats really cool and I like all of this stuff...BUT!...i gota airport base station..graphite..and I want to reset it. I'm on a tangerine iBook runnning 10.3.8...havent gotten .9 yet...but thats not important. I JUST WANT TO GIVE IT A HARD RESET...the apple support docs don't help at all and I just need a way to totally reset the unit. You know, with the forced firmware download thing or whatever....I can get to the part where I hold the reset gbutton for 30secs, but then the Airport Admin Utility doesn't see the unit anymore...help? thanks in advance...

You followed these reset instructions, performed step 5, and the lights responded as specified?
Make sure you have an Ethernet cable connected from the Mac to the ABS.
Make sure you have your Mac's network settings correct:
System Preferences/Network Pane/Show: Network Port Configuration. Enable Built-in Ethernet, drag to top of list. (ScreenShot)
System Preferences/Network Pane/Show:Built-in Ethernet/TCP/IP Tab/Configure: Manually/IP Address 192.42.249.15, Subnet mask 255.255.255.0, Router 192.42.249.13, DNS: Blank. (ScreenShot) Apply.
Added screenshots above. (You may notice I use a separate Location for the ABS reload - makes it easier to switch back to old settings, and to reload next time.)

i did all of that....i think the lights were what i thought correct but wreent really....and I didnt drag ethernet to the top of the list!...but about a half hour after i posted this, my mom (I'm only 13 for god's sake) suggested that when I do the soft reset, that in the tcp/ip field of the "This Base station has been reset" dialog i should put in thiss computers IP address...and low andbehold! TADA it works. This is exciting....even though its still only 56k, its nice...thanks for helping though!
thanks again...all of you out there
