I am looking to replace my HP AIO and hopefully avoid problems with Apples future updates, can someone recommend a quality scanner in the $150 - $200 price range.

Thanks

Mike

My Epson Perfection 1250 has been very reliable, and Epson now offers OS X drivers for most of its scanners. I also have a Canon 656U which is a tiny little USB scanner that works well, but not as well as the Epson.

I really like my Canon LiDE 30. Works great in OS X, good reults, less than $100. Its USB powered and really slim, so it saves space & there's fewer cords. But, being USB, its a bit slow. If you're a casual scanner, its great. If you're gonna do a lot of scanning, look for a firewire device.

I am using an Epson 1660 and find it to work very well in OS 10.2.3. The buttons on the scanner do not work but programs like Image Capture and Photoshop allow for many options while scanning. It should meet or exceed all requirements for an everyday scanner. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Since you did not say if you know that the drivers are from the scanner maufacteror or not, I think that when looking for a scanner, you need to go to the sfg.'s site and check to see if they have support for the latest Mac OS. I bought a Coolscan 8000ED before the new driver cam out, so I had to initially use it in 9.2.2. Now that the OSX.2 driver is on my computer, I am happy as a lark. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is there a list of scanners that are supported "out-of-the-box" with Jaguar and Image Capture?

Thanks Philbert!
You always seem to come to the rescue in these cases. I just ordered an Epson 1660 as a result of this discussion. Yeah!
PS: Merry Christmas to everyone!

No problem Acoustic.
Let's just say Mr. Google and I, are pretty tight. Good luck with the Espson; let us know how it works. (But please - no scanning body parts!) /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Duh! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Can't believe that I missed that list. Anyways, what does the (* Requires a Jaguar-compatible TWAIN Data Source (DS)) mean? Does that come with the scanner, or do you need to download it from somewhere?
Thanks!
