Isn't this kind of program pretty much going to be wiped out by Spotlight? Or is the saving grace that it can catalogue media that is not on your hard disk? Anyone have any suggestions for the best programs for cataloguing media, I need to start doing this.

If you commonly work with media resources that you wish to find by something other than their actual name this kind of app is great. For example, keywords, descriptions. Additionaly programs that support embedding EXIF data can transfer this information to and from Mediaboard. Licensing data can also be stored so you know for example whether an image can be used on a company website. Our company is seriously considering replacing Portfolio with this.
