Safari launch time

It has been a couple of week since downloading 10.3.9 on my PB, but since then launch time of safari 1.3 has increased. The icon bounces (about) 25 times in the dock before I see the app on the screen. If I quit and relaunch it will open straight away.
Any ideas.
