When we upgraded to a g5 with tiger, the old MS Works program that my girlfriend has used for years to keep data on tenants in some apartments she manages went kaput.
MS works had lots of nice blank areas she could tab to, and now we got to get something newer, and simple.
I supposed she could set something up in excel, but is there something else out there?

As mentioned above Appleworks' database is a very simple to use (flatfile) DB. If you think that the total number of entries will be less than 65000, Excel might be a better choice with its Pivot-table reports, ability to make relational databases, etc..

I don't use a database program myself, and I haven't used NeoOffice, but...

Appleworks will work fine for her, unless she made a habit of building and using filters in MSworks. Appleworks has nothing like it, and the Find function works a lot differently too. For databases, I've moved on to Filemaker Pro for its relational abilities, but I miss MSWorks for some of its simplicity. The WP module as nowhere near as bloated and confusing as MSWord, and although I couldn't do complicated related sheets and workbooks in the SS module, it was okay because I neither needed nor wanted to do so. Since I'm still using OS 9 as my OS on most of my Macs, I'm safe for a little while longer. Alas, I lament the impending loss of MS Works...

I believe either Appleworks or NeoOffice would do the job. If you don't own Appleworks, why not test NeoOffice ( as suggested previously by another reader)?
I don't create databases either, but have been testing NeoOffice in Tiger and for my needs, (Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Presentation) so far so good.
