Hi:
I'm having an interesting issue with my mini.
I have an iPod dock connected to a powered Belkin USB hub.
When my G5 is turned on, the iPod mounts and charges and all is fine.
When I turn my G5 off, and leave the Mini in the dock overnight, the icon on the screen shows it charging.
When I come back in the morning, the icon still shows the mini as charging?
In the morning, when I remove the iPod from the dock, the battery is completely drained?? The mini won't even start up? I turn on my G5 and re-plug the mini back in the dock and after a few minutes the totally drained battery icon appears, and it starts to recharge.
Anyone have any idea why this would be happening??
Thanks
RichL

SAme happens to my ipod photo. Though I think it discharges the battery overnight when I have the computer in sleep as well
Seems to me that if you have your ipod plugged in and shut down your computer or sleep your computer the ipod should simply stay in the state its at.
There have been many times I ve grabbed my ipod on my way out the door only to find it have a drained battery.

Yes, it seems to drain it rather than charge it.
I think like you...if I just left it in the dock, it would neither charge nor drain..but that doesn't seem to be the case.

my 3rd gen iPod shows this same behavior. If I leave it in the dock overnight while computer is asleep, it is barely charged the next morning or completely dead.

Well isn't that interesting!
So I guess this behavior is not limited to the mini?
I have read or head anything about this anywhere. I wonder if Apple is aware of this problem?

I vaguely remember this topic coming up when I first got my iPod, but I can't find the thread. I don't believe Apple has ever acknowledged this, but could be wrong. Their iPod FAQ does carefully say you can leave it in the dock while the computer is powered up.

It does not mention in sleep mode or completely turned off.
