This issue is driving me crazy, and right now I'm on the verge of downgrading to Panther again simply to gain back some productivity...
Tiger on my machine likes to slow down over time. After I boot up, applications open in rarely more than two bounces, animations are smooth, windows display and update quickly. The longer the machine is up and running, the slower everything gets. Applications take more and more bounces to launch, animations become jerky and delayed, windows take forever to display or move. I've restarted Tiger more in the past two weeks than I restarted Panther in the entire time I had it installed. It's really infuriating to be working on a big project, and to have to close everything down and reboot (logout does nothing for the problem) because the machine has slowed down to the point of being unusable.
The weird thing is, I can't find any reason for this to be happening. CPU and RAM usage are the same as right after a reboot, there are no weird processes I can see, yet everything is slow.
Tiger was installed in the cleanest way possible. The drive was zeroed and reformatted, I didn't import any of my old preference or configuration files, and there were no errors or glitches of any kind during the install progress. The system also appears to be as stable as ever.

Once the slowness starts, run top -caF -o rprvt and top -caF -o cpu for a couple of minutes and paste the output here. You can see the running time for top on the top right side.
