I know this forum is not a perfect match for the topic, but as there is no pro software forum, here it is.
I am studying film. That's what brought me to the Apple world. I am starting the last six months of the study and it's time to gear up. I already have the Powebook and an old tower to do work on. The software is next. I waited for the new Final Cut suite to become available. Now that it is, I'm ready to burn a serious hole in my pocket. The question is, how big should the hole be?
I can buy the edu version. It's identical to the "proper" and I'm entitled to it. However, the price difference isn't what it used to be. 899 euros for the edu, 1299 (1249 with a voucher I have (which is not valid in the edu shop)) for the pro.
I would go for the edu, obviously, if it wasn't for one question that I need answered. Will I be able to upgrade the edu version when the next one comes out, or will I be left behind at square one?
If anyone knows this, I'd love to hear it. I emailed Apple but they keep referring me to other departments.
